Michelangelo's full name is Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni. He was an Italian painter, sculptor and poet. Michelangelo is considered one of the earliest artists of the Italian High Renaissance. The Creation of Adam is an often reproduced detail from the ceiling fresco in the Sistine Chapel in Rome. It is one of a cycle of nine individual frescoes. The painting of the Creation of Adam depicts God extending his finger to give life to Adam.
